BETTER IS STILL NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR BANTAM FURY
Even though the outcome was not what the Mason Homes Bantam Rep Fury wanted,
it was an improvement over their first outing. The boys came out with a
bit more passion in game 2 and maybe this can be attributed to the fact
that this game was at home. Even though the score at the end of the first
period was 4-1 in favour of the visiting Peterborough Lakers, with a couple
of bounces, the score could have been a lot closer. One of the reasons
that the score remained as close as it was, was the play of Mackenzie Langford
in the nets. Langford was tested quite a bit, and held his own, when his
defence deserted him. The lone goal scorer for the Fury in the 1st period
was Craig Shier, and the goal was unassisted. The Fury were outshot by
a margin of 14-7 in the period.
In the second and third periods, play went end to end with lots of good scoring chances. The Peterborough goalie made some keys saves to keep his team in the lead, as at some points in both periods the Fury controlled the play, but just could not put the ball behind the keeper. The second goal of the game for the Fury was again scored unassisted by Craig Shier. The shots on goal for the remaining two periods were in favour of the Lakers, outshooting the Fury by a total of 23-16, giving the total shots for the game in favour of Peterborough by a margin of 37-23. The final score of the game was Peterborough 7 and the Fury 2.
